Wade Seccombe named Victoria's head of men's cricket

Wade Seccombe has been appointed Head of Male Cricket for Victoria. He will succeed David Hussey, who resigned at the end of May. Seccombe, who previously served as the head coach of Queensland and Brisbane Heat in the BBL, joins the state coaching staff from his most recent position as Performance Manager for the Melbourne Renegades.

He will work across Victoria's men's set-up in his new job, aiming to strengthen connections between Premier Cricket and the professional program. Graham Manou, Cricket Victoria's general manager of cricket performance, stated, "Wade has made a strong impression through the work he has already done with us at Cricket Victoria, particularly through his contribution to our T20 strategy and recruitment."

"He is an excellent candidate to lead our male high-performance program due to his performance in that role and his broader experience across Australian Cricket." Through Victoria's partnership with the San Francisco Unicorns, Seccombe is currently employed at MLC. He stated, "Cricket Victoria has a proud history and a strong group of players, coaches, and staff from across the state as well as Big Bash programs."

"I'm thankful for the opportunity and excited to contribute to the creation of a setting where players can perform, grow, and enjoy representing Victoria," I said.

After Cricket Victoria announced that they would sell the club's license and operate one franchise, which is expected to see Melbourne Stars rebranded, Renegades, where Seccombe has worked since 2024, will play this upcoming Big Bash season under a temporary structure in both the WBBL and BBL. This week, the men's state tournament dates are expected to be announced. South Australia defeated Victoria in the Sheffield Shield final last season.
