Tuskers Pacer Chad Laycock Makes History with Five Wickets in an Over in CSA T20 Challenge Cup

The Record-Breaking Over: KZN Tuskers fast bowler and all-rounder Chad Laycock etched his name into T20 history books by becoming just the fourth player globally—and the first South African—to take five wickets in a single over in men's T20 cricket.

How the Over Unfolded: Coming on to bowl the penultimate (19th) over of the innings, Laycock dismantled the Titans' lower order:

1st ball: Clean-bowled Leus du Plooy. | 2nd ball: Dayyaan Galiem took two runs.

3rd ball: Galiem caught at long-on. | 4th ball: Aphiwe Mnyanda bowled (middle stump knocked over).

5th ball: Janco Smit bowled (off stump flattened). | 6th ball: Esosa Aihevba bowled (off stump flattened, completing four wickets in four consecutive legal deliveries).

Match Figures: Laycock finished with career-best bowling figures of 6 for 26 in 4 overs, having earlier accounted for opener Lhuan-dre Pretorius (81). His heroics restricted the Titans to 204 all out in 19.5 overs.

All-Round Effort in Vain: Despite Laycock later returning with the bat to score an unbeaten 31 runs, the Tuskers fell short in the chase, finishing on 183-6 to hand the Titans a 21-run victory.

Al-Amin achieved the feat for UCB-BCB XI against Abahani Limited in the 2013-14 Victory Day T20 Cup. Mithun followed in the semi-final of the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (India's domestic T20 competition), for Karnataka against Haryana.
