Top of the table: Shadab brilliance lifts Falcons to No.1 in CPL

An explosive, unbeaten half-century from Shadab Khan propelled Antigua and Barbuda Falcons to a stunning five-wicket victory over Trinbago Knight Riders at North Sound, lifting them to the top of the CPL 2026 points table.

TKR's First-Innings Total: Sent in to bat, Trinbago Knight Riders posted 165/6, driven by top-order contributions from Colin Munro (46 off 33) and Nicholas Pooran (43 off 17). Rahkeem Cornwall (2/17) and Joshua James (2/23) led the bowling effort for the Falcons.

Middle-Order Stagnation: The Falcons started with momentum but slid to 92/5 in the 13th over after top-order batters struggled to maintain rate, leaving them needing 74 runs off the remaining 41 balls. Shadab's Game-Changing Blitz: Coming in at No. 7, Shadab Khan smashed an unbeaten 52 off just 20 balls, partnering with Kusal Perera (34* off 22) in an unbroken 76-run stand across 33 deliveries.

Late-Overs Carnage: Needing 37 from the final three overs, Shadab launched three sixes in a 27-run 18th over off Nathan Edward, before striking two more sixes in the 19th over off Terrance Hinds to wrap up the chase with nine balls to spare.

Falcons' Early Wobble: Despite a 14-run opening over from Rahkeem Cornwall before his run-out, the Falcons stuttered during their chase. Amir Jangoo (31 off 36), Evin Lewis (10 off 14), and Hasan Nawaz (1 off 10) struggled for fluent scoring, leaving Antigua and Barbuda Falcons needing 74 runs off 41 balls at 92/5 in the 13th over.

TKR's Batting Order Restricted: Trinbago Knight Riders posted 165/6 thanks to Colin Munro (46 off 33) and Nicholas Pooran (43 off 17). However, Cornwall (2/17) curtailed the top order by removing Alex Hales and Matthew Breetzke, while Joshua James dismissed Kieron Pollard for 9 off 16.

Late Inning Finish: Sunil Narine (19*) and Terrance Hinds (14*) compiled an unbroken 34-run stand in 3.5 overs to close out TKR's innings, but Shadab Khan (52* off 20) and Kusal Perera (34*) ultimately chased down the target with nine balls remaining.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons 168 for 5 (Shadab 52*, Perera 34*, Hinds 2-36) beat Trinbago Knight Riders 165 fo 6 (Munro 46, Pooran 43, Cornwall 2-17, James 2-23) by five wickets
