The Blaze Edge Final-Ball Thriller Against Hampshire to Secure Domestic Treble

The Blaze clinched a domestic treble in dramatic fashion, defeating Hampshire by three wickets off the very last ball to win the Metro Bank One-Day Cup final.

Hampshire's Innings: After being sent in to bat, Hampshire set a target of 251/9. Half-centuries from Ella McCaughan and Freya Kemp anchored the innings, but spinner Lucy Higham (4/49) and Charley Phillips pulled things back late on as Hampshire lost 6 wickets for 54 runs.  

Chasing Foundation: The Blaze built a strong platform in response through top-order half-centuries from Tammy Beaumont and Georgia Elwiss, along with a firm opening stand with Sarah Bryce. Middle-Order Stumble: Hampshire spinner Amanda-Jade Wellington picked up crucial wickets to trigger a collapse, turning the game into a tight finish as The Blaze stumbled with 30 runs still required.  

Last-Ball Heroics: Requiring 17 runs off the final two overs and 2 off the last ball, Emma Jones held her nerve with a high-stakes unbeaten 34 off 25 balls, striking a boundary off the final delivery to complete the chase.  

The Treble: Having already captured the Vitality Blast and Vitality T20 County Cup, the victory completed a clean sweep of domestic trophies for The Blaze in their final match under their current regional guise.

And with 30 still needed, Gordon was caught. It meant there was 17 required from the last two overs, but Jones took the sting out of things. A nerveless reverse-pull and a straight drive both went to the boundary, and despite the run-out off Higham off the third ball, Jones took her side to victory with a swept four off the final ball of a nerve-filled match.

The Blaze 254 for 7 (Beaumont 74, Elwiss 64, Jones 34*, Wellington 3-36) beat Hampshire 251 for 9 (McCaughan 78, Kemp 52, Higham 4-49, Phillips 3-38) by three wickets
