Sunrisers knocks Welsh Fire out to stay in contention for Eliminator spot

Sunrisers Leeds put on a ruthless display to knock Welsh Fire out of contention for a spot in the Women's Hundred Eliminator while boosting their own chances.

Phoebe Litchfield set up the chase with a quickfire fifty, and Sunrisers breezed past the total with ease after Welsh Fire put on a poor batsmanship display, falling to 121/8. The win has now setup a virtual quarterfinal for Sunrisers against Manchester Super Giants

The Sunrisers' decision to bowl first worked out well. Deepti Sharma ended Georgia Voll's scathing knock, and Sarah Bryce was dismissed early. Hannah Baker did some damage in the middle order before Deepti added to her tally.

Freya Kemp put on a solo effor, smashing an unbeaten 72 off just 45 deliveries, as the rest of the batting order crumbled without much resistence. Seven batters were run out for single-digit runs, and if not for Kemp's hit, Welsh Fire probably wouldn't have reached three runs.

In contrast, Sunrisers made a breezy start to their chase despite losing an early wicket. Litchfield got going with 4,6,4 off Grace Potts and carried that momentum forward. Despite Lauren Winfield-Hill's dismissal, Sunrisers continued to remain on top with Litchfield making merry enroute to her fifty.

The competition was pretty much over by the time she was sent home, as Sunrisers won with 26 balls left to spare.
