Smriti Mandhana, Georgia Voll Lead RCB to Historic Second WPL Title

Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their second Women's Premier League (WPL) title by defeating Delhi Capitals in a thrilling final. Mandhana scored an impressive 87 off 41 balls, while Voll contributed 79 off 54 balls, forming a record-breaking 165-run partnership for the second wicket. This helped RCB chase down Delhi's 203/4 with six wickets in hand and two balls to spare. Mandhana was named Player of the Match for her outstanding performance. Jemimah Rodrigues, having found form in recent games, was in full flow on the day. She looked in sublime touch, punishing remotely wide, not letting the momentum slip away after Lee's dismissal. Lizelle Lee blasted onto the scene, hitting back-to-back sixes off Sayali Satghare in the fourth over, setting the tone for Delhi Capitals' strong start. Despite Satghare's chaotic over, which included six runs off wides, DC continued to build momentum. Shafali Verma contributed with two fours off Arundhati Reddy, but was dismissed for 20 off 13 balls. Lee and Laura Wolvaardt then took charge, hitting 19 runs off Shreyanka Patil in the seventh over, including three fours and a six. RCB's chase was on fire, with Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll leading the charge! They were the only team in the tournament to have successfully chased a 200-plus total before, and they dominated the season with five consecutive wins to top the table. Grace Harris started strong, hitting two fours off Marizanne Kapp, but Henry quickly struck, flattening Harris' middle stump for 9. Voll then joined Mandhana, innovating with a scoop over short fine leg for her first boundary. The pair ensured RCB kept up with the asking rate, finding the gaps often and targeting all of DC's bowlers. Mandhana looked in imperious form, punishing anything in her arc. When Nandani Sharma bowled a slower one right into the slot, Mandhana got down on one knee to send it over deep square leg for the first six of her innings. DC's breakthrough came when Minnu Mani got Georgia Voll to hole out for a 54-ball 79. RCB needed 30 off 21 balls, but Nandani and Henry struck, removing Richa Ghosh and Smriti Mandhana (87) in quick succession. DC sensed a comeback, but Mani dropped a crucial catch off Radha, and RCB managed to sneak through. RCB's victory marks their second WPL title, joining Mumbai Indians as the joint-most successful teams in the tournament. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, suffered their fourth consecutive final defeat. Mandhana's captaincy and batting prowess were instrumental in RCB's success, with her scoring 377 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of over 150.
