Shaun Tait Walks Away From Bangladesh Fast Bowling Coach Job

Shaun Tait stepped down immediately as Bangladesh’s fast bowling coach, ending a 12-month stint. His contract was supposed to run until November 2027, but he cut it short by over a year. BCB confirmed the resignation was due to family reasons and said it was “reached amicably and with mutual understanding”.

"I don't think that'll be the closed door on my time in the country. There's obviously BPL and what not. You never know what the future holds. But for the time being, my young family need a bit more of my time. So, the full-time role of year-round red and white-ball cricket, my 12 months was enough and it's time to just step back and give my family a little bit more time."

Tait said his “young family need a bit more of my time” and the demands of year-round red and white-ball cricket meant 12 months was enough. He thanked the BCB and players, adding he hopes it’s not a “closed door” on working in Bangladesh again, with BPL a possibility.

The BCB is reportedly considering Talha Jubair, the former fast bowler who is a reputed coach at the domestic level, as Tait's replacement for the Australia white-ball matches at home from next week. The three-match ODI series begins on June 9 in Dhaka.

Joined in May 2025, replacing Andre Adams. Credited with Bangladesh’s pace-bowling resurgence. Standout: development of Nahid Rana, whose raw pace made him one of Bangladesh’s most exciting prospects. Under Tait, Bangladesh beat Pakistan 2-0 in a Test series, both home and away.
