Saim Ayub stars with 58-ball hundred as Kingsmen win again, Patriots sink to bottom

A sensational century from Saim Ayub powered Jamaica Kingsmen to an 11-run victory over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at Basseterre, securing their third win of CPL 2026 and keeping the Patriots rooted to the bottom of the table.

Ayub's Maiden CPL Ton: Saim Ayub anchored the Kingsmen's innings with a brilliant 102 off 58 balls (the second century of CPL 2026), sharing a 72-run stand with skipper Rovman Powell (21) and leading Kingsmen to a competitive 182/7.

Early Patriots Stumble: In response, the Patriots collapsed to 42/3 in the Powerplay before slow top-order accumulation left them with too much to do in the closing stages.

Fletcher & Shanaka Counterattack: Andre Fletcher kept the chase alive with a 38-ball 55 before falling to Ayub's spin. Late fireworks from Jason Holder (34) and Dasun Shanaka (35* off 18 balls) brought Patriots close, but they ultimately fell 11 runs short.

Table Movement: The win moves Jamaica Kingsmen up to fourth place with six points, while St Kitts and Nevis Patriots remain bottom in seventh.

Ayub really only got going after the powerplay, and by the time Rovman Powell joined him in the middle, he was on 37 from 25. Not special, but he was getting somewhere.

Powell and Ayub, though, smashed their way to a 72-run stand in just 43 balls, Powell going at 123.52 for his 17-ball 21 but Ayub, by then, playing at another level, hitting 51 in 26 balls in the partnership.

There was support from Keemo Paul after that as Ayub brought up his century off just 57 balls - the second century of CPL 2026 after Tim Seifert's 61-ball 105* in the previous match - and with Paul finishing with 25* in 13 balls, Kingsmen finished strongly. Strongly enough to add a win to their record and rise to fourth place for now.
