Rehan Ahmed Named in England Lions Squad for White-Ball Tour of the West Indies
The Selection: Nationally centrally-contracted leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed has been named in both the T20 and 50-over squads for the England Lions' upcoming tour of the West Indies.
Tour Details & Schedule:
T20 Leg: A three-match series running from November 1 to November 4 at the Conaree Sports Club in St Kitts & Nevis. 50-Over Leg: A five-match series starting on November 7, hosted across Warner Park and the Conaree Sports Club.
Leadership & Coaching: The touring side is coached by Jonathan Trott. The squads will be captained by Thomas Rew (T20s) and Dan Lawrence (50-overs).
Objective: Following recent shifts in national white-ball selection, the high-profile Caribbean trip provides Ahmed with a vital platform to regain rhythm, display form, and force his way back into regular senior international contention.
Rew's selection as T20 captain follows his success leading England Under-19s to the World Cup final in Zimbabwe earlier this year, while his older brother James is included in both squads after missing out on an ECB development contract. Ben Mayes, who also played at the World Cup, features in both squads.
Worcestershire seamer Adam Finch has won his first Lions call-up after impressing in the Blast, while Yorkshire allrounder Matt Revis - another player to recently sign a development contract - has missed out after reportedly undergoing Achilles surgery.
The Lions are also due to tour South Africa (November 25-December 23) and Sri Lanka (February 18-March 14) this winter, including playing two four-day games in South Africa.
