Ramakrishna Ghosh ruled out of IPL with foot fracture

Due to a fracture in his right foot, Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh will miss the remainder of IPL 2026. On their social media platforms, CSK confirmed that the 28-year-old suffered the injury in the home match against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, May 2, which was also the match in which he made his IPL debut.

Ghosh did make a diving catch early in the game to get rid of Will Jacks, but the exact cause of the fracture is still unknown. After delivering his first ball to Naman Dhir, he also tumbled in his follow-through.

Head coach Stephen Fleming had referenced the injury in his post-match press conference. "His progress over the past few weeks has been evident. He has been doing a great job of training at our academy sessions. He has been extremely impressive on our two grounds. It's disappointing that he got hurt in the last few minutes. The second point is that he can bat, and he does it very well, which is a big improvement. "So that he can truly be referred to as an all-rounder," Fleming stated.

Ghosh's injury further deepens what has been an injury-laden campaign for the five-time champions. Over the past two weeks, they have lost their star batter Ayush Mhatre and their leading Indian seamer Khaleel Ahmed. Before the start of the season, they were without Nathan Ellis, and his replacement, Spencer Johnson, had been out for a while due to an injury of his own. Since the beginning of the season, CSK have also been without their talisman MS Dhoni, who has been battling a calf strain.

Mhatre was replaced by Akash Madhwal, but CSK haven't named a Khaleel Ahmed replacement yet. In due course, a decision regarding Ghosh's replacement is anticipated.
