Rain forces abandonment as Hurricanes seal playoffs spot

Due to persistent rain, Sydney Sixers vs. Hobart Hurricanes' BBL match 31 was abandoned. After points were split, the Hurricanes became the first team to make the playoffs, while the Sixers moved up to third place. Steve Smith and Babar Azam opened the innings for the Sixers when they were asked to bat first, marking his return to the BBL following the Ashes. The Hurricanes' tight bowling mostly kept the famous batters in check, and the PowerPlay only scored 25 runs. The Sixers fans did have a couple of moments to cheer though, including Smith's six over deep mid-wicket in the second over and a cover drive from Babar in the fourth. After the PowerPlay, there was only one more over of play before it started to rain relentlessly over the SCG.
