Proteas Edge Pakistan Thanks to Luus' All-Round Brilliance

Sune Luus led South Africa to a series win over Pakistan with an all-round performance. She took crucial wickets and contributed with the bat, helping South Africa take the lead in the series. Sune Luus' blistering 93* and South Africa's all-round bowling crushed Pakistan in the rain-affected ODI. Chasing a revised target, Pakistan fell short. Luus anchored South Africa's innings them after early wickets, and their bowlers sealed the win. Requiring more than a run-a-ball from the get go, Pakistan struggled in their chase. They were reduced to 5 for 2 within their first four overs, with strikes from Ayanda Hlubi (1 for 22) and Nadine de Klerk (2 for 36). Sidra Amin (68) and Ayesha Zafar (81) stitched together a 116-run partnership for the third wicket to keep Pakistan in the contest, though they went just below six an over during these 20.3 overs. Pakistan's chase was derailed as Sune Luus' all-round show continued, removing Amin and later Aliya Riaz fell, stumped off Nonkululeko Mlaba's spin. Pakistan managed 217/8, falling short of the target. Three overs remained, and they needed an improbable 44 runs off them. Tumi Sekhukhune was at the front of the mop-up job with a lower order that did not come close to threatening this equation. She picked up the remaining two wickets to finish on figures of 3 for 50, and Pakistan were bowled out for 223 to hand South Africa a 1-0 lead. Sune Luus staged a brilliant recovery with Annerie Dercksen, adding 80 runs in 12.2 overs for the fourth wicket. After Dercksen's fall, Luus held things together, scoring 93* off 76 balls with 8 fours and a six. Sinalo Jafta added a late flourish with 57* off 38, launching South Africa to 260/6. South Africa 260 for 6 (Luus 93*, Wolvaardt 43, Sandhu 2-45) beat Pakistan 223 (Zafar 81, Amin 68, Sekhukhune 3-50) by 37 runs
