Prithvi Shaw Opens Up on Break, Mental Health Push

Prithvi Shaw says he needed a break to focus on his mental strength. He's prioritizing his mental well-being and coming back stronger. Prithvi Shaw's recharging his batteries! He took a break, refreshed, and came back strong – practising harder and focusing on his game. Sounds like it was just what he needed to get mentally tough. Shaw was dropped by DC midway through IPL 2024 and was then dropped by his domestic side Mumbai during the 2024-25 season, with his Mumbai team-mate Shreyas Iyer saying Shaw needed to "get his work ethics right". He eventually left Mumbai and played for Maharashtra in the recent domestic season. Prithvi Shaw's keeping it real. He's learned to ignore the noise and focus on himself, surrounded by people who know him best. Good for him for not letting the haters bring him down. "Those things were used to keep me away from all these things [related to cricket]. I had belief in myself. Because I know where I have come from, how hard I have worked. Mistakes are made by humans… It's okay, move ahead. All that is history, and it happened many years ago... I feel [now] is the time when mentally I get a lot of happiness to come to the ground." Prithvi Shaw is looking to make a comeback with Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2026, competing with Pathum Nissanka and Abishek Porel to partner KL Rahul at the top of the order. DC's last playoff appearance was in 2021, and they're aiming to turn things around in the upcoming season. Their campaign starts on April 1 against Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow. Shaw's return to DC is seen as a fresh start, with him working three times harder to regain his form and push for an India comeback. He's focused on mental strength and enjoying the game, saying, "I needed that break to make myself mentally strong".
