Praful Hinge's Dream Debut Shatters Rajasthan Royals' Winning Streak
Praful Hinge's historic IPL debut : 3 wickets in first over, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a duck, helping SRH beat RR 216-chase.
But Hinge wasn't the only one to mark his arrival onto the big stage with a grandstand beginning. Another debutant, Bihar's Sakib Hussain, struck at the other end as well, causing RR to crash to 5 for 4, and then 9 for 5. The game was effectively sealed right there. The two debutants finished with combined figures of 8 for 58.
Hinge's debut was long overdue, and he made the most of it! His magical start sent SRH fans into a frenzy.
Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood weren't spared, but Hinge didn't carry any baggage. A hard-length delivery into the pitch had Vaibhav Sooryavanshi top-edge a pull to wicketkeeper Salil Arora for a golden duck. One ball later, Hinge had the in-form Dhruv Jurel chop on, and then capped off the first over by having Lhuan-dre Pretorius, who replaced Shimron Hetmyer, flick one straight to long leg.
Sakib Hussain joined the party, taking the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal and sending him back for 1 run, with the score at 2 for 4. He went on to take 4 wickets for 24 runs, including Jofra Archer and Ravi Bishnoi, with his slower variations proving too tricky for the RR batsmen. Meanwhile, Praful Hinge's stunning debut continued, taking 4 wickets for 34 runs, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a duck, Dhruv Jurel, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, helping SRH restrict RR to 159 runs.
Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira's partnership was crucial for Rajasthan Royals, adding 50 runs for the sixth wicket. However, SRH's bowlers, led by Sakib Hussain, put pressure on RR, making them need 97 off the last six overs. Jadeja and Ferreira fell in consecutive overs, sealing SRH's victory.
But while he was at the crease, Ferreira gave a good account of himself, particularly in his handling of spinners. Quick to get to the pitch or rock back to pull, he was severe on both Shivang Kumar and Harsh Dubey as he raised a maiden IPL fifty off 31 balls. But his dismissal, followed by Jadeja's, opened the floodgates for Sakib.
Ishan Kishan exploded into action after RR's early wicket, smashing Jofra Archer for a four and a six in his second over. He put on 55 with Travis Head, setting a solid platform for SRH. Head's luck ran out in the seventh over, getting caught at long-on off Parag. Ishan Kishan's blistering half-century came off just 30 balls, with a monstrous fifth six - a slog sweep off Ravi Bishnoi. He was on fire, partnering with Heinrich Klaasen to put on a 50-run stand in just 26 deliveries, taking on Tushar Deshpande's bowling. This aggressive batting forced Riyan Parag to bring Jofra Archer back for a third over in the 13th, but Kishan showed no signs of slowing down, helping SRH reach a formidable total.
Sunrisers Hyderabad 216 for 6 (Kishan 91, Klaasen 40, Archer 2-37) beat Rajasthan Royals 159 (Ferreira 69, Jadeja 45, Sakib 4-24, Hinge 4-34) by 57 runs
