Pooran 59 with 7 sixes, Narine 4-12 strangle Barbados in low-scoring TKR win
Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) defended a low total to beat Barbados Tridents by 35 runs in the 27th match of CPL 2026 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, on September 5, 2026.
Pooran's Six-Hitting Display: Nicholas Pooran single-handedly anchored TKR's innings with 59 off 37 balls, smashing seven sixes—including three in an over off both Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Gudakesh Motie—after surviving a drop catch on 35.
Narine's Powerplay Strikes: Sunil Narine set up TKR's defense early by taking three quick wickets in the powerplay, reducing Barbados Tridents to 35 for 4 in six overs. He finished with figures of 4 for 12.
Spin Stranglehold: TKR's spin quartet of Narine, Akeal Hosein, Usman Tariq, and Jyd Goolie (3 for 20) combined to take 8 for 82 across 14.3 overs, completely drying up the run rate. Tridents Batting Failure: No Barbados batter crossed 25 runs, with opener Zachary Carter and Sherfane Rutherford top-scoring with 21 each before the team was bowled out for 112.
Thereafter, however, the big hits began to flow. A whip over the leg side off debutant Jakeem Pollard warmed him up, before he hit three sixes in a row off Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the ninth over and followed up with three more in a row, this time off Gudakesh Motie, in the 14th. A dropped catch from Rivaldo Clarke at deep third, off Jakeem Pollard, may have proved an ultimately pivotal moment; Pooran was batting on 35 off 26 at that point.
Eventually, he scored 59 off 37. Knight Riders scored 96 in 63 balls when Pooran was at the crease, and 51 in 57 balls either side of his innings. Motie took three expensive wickets for Tridents, going for 29 in just two overs, while Mujeeb picked up 2 for 22 in his four overs.
