Nottinghamshire sign George Munsey for Vitality T20 Blast

For this summer's T20 Blast, Nottinghamshire has signed Scotland opener George Munsey as a local player. Munsey, who scored 84 out of 54 balls in Scotland's only victory at the T20 World Cup, has only played in the Blast twice, with Kent in 2021 and Hampshire in 2020. However, he has a lot of international experience and has played in franchise leagues all over the world. He can be registered as a local player thanks to his British passport; George Linde and Peter Siddle will likely take Notts' two overseas spots for the Blast. Notts won the Blast in 2017 and 2020, but their recent performances have been subpar, with them finishing last in the North Group in 2024 and missing out on the quarterfinals last summer. They are attempting to address that with a number of seasoned acquisitions, including Hampshire all-rounder Benny Howell. Notts head coach Peter Moores stated, "George adds another experienced batter to our Blast squad, as we continue to develop our team into one that can really push for honours in this format." "Our homegrown players will still have plenty of chances to make their case for selection, but George gives us more depth and experience." That will be crucial as we prepare for yet another busy season across all game formats." The provisional schedule that Cricket Scotland released last week for the 2026 season does not include any men's international matches that take place between May 22 and August 3. Therefore, Munsey will be accessible throughout the Blast, which begins on May 26 and runs through July 18. Munsey stated, "I'm really excited to get the chance to come and play for Notts and call a wonderful venue like Trent Bridge home in the middle of summer." "I'll be taking this opportunity with both hands and hoping to make as much of a contribution as I can, both on and off the field, and I hope we can achieve success this year." "I have the impression that I have a lot of experience that I can bring to this group, and I hope that will assist us in having a successful year in the Blast." In this format, the Outlaws have had a lot of great players, and this summer, I can't wait to play in front of a large crowd at Trent Bridge."
