New Zealand openers smash T20 World Cup record in 10-wicket rout of UAE

New Zealand's openers, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen, smashed a record-breaking partnership, guiding their team to a 10-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates in the T20 World Cup. The duo put on an unbeaten 175-run stand, eclipsing the previous record for the highest partnership in T20 World Cup history. Seifert scored 89 not out, while Allen contributed 84 not out, with both players hitting fifties. The Kiwis chased down the UAE's target of 174 with more than four overs to spare. The even-paced pitch and its location on the square, with one side of the ground smaller than the other, definitely gave the batters a boost! Muhammad Waseem and Alishan Sharafu's partnership was crucial, putting on 107 runs for the second wicket, which is their second-highest in T20Is. Waseem ended up scoring an unbeaten 66, while Sharafu contributed 55 runs. This strong partnership helped UAE post a competitive 173/6. New Zealand's bowlers were really under pressure against UAE's batting lineup. They struggled to contain the UAE batters, who took advantage of the even-paced pitch. The bowlers' lack of control was evident in the death bowling, particularly in an over that yielded 27 runs, including a wide, a no-ball four, and a free-hit six. This was a concern, given their struggles in the bilateral series against India before the World Cup. Allen showed game awareness when he played out UAE's pinpoint accurate spin bowler, Haider Ali, and took down their quicks with ease instead. He had tried to do too much against Mujeeb Ur Rahman and lost his stumps during their previous match against Afghanistan. Here, even when Haider tempted him with mid-off up, he held back his big shots. Earlier, UAE's Muhammad Waseem and Alishan Sharafu had put up a fight, scoring 66 and 55 respectively, to help their team post a competitive 173/6. New Zealand 175 for 0 (Seifert 89*, Allen 84*) beat United Arab Emirates 173 for 6 (Waseem 66, Sharafu 55, Henry 2-37) by ten wickets
