Naqvi Fires Warning Shot at Players Leaving PSL for IPL: 'We Will Take Action'
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has warned players that action will be taken against those who opt out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This comes as some Pakistani players are considering pulling out of the PSL for the IPL. Naqvi emphasized the PCB's commitment to protecting the interests of Pakistani cricket and its stakeholders.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi isn't budging on players ditching the PSL for the IPL. He's warned that action will be taken against those who opt out, citing last year's case of Corbin Bosch, who was banned for a year. Naqvi emphasizes that the PSL can't be postponed due to scheduling conflicts and that they're getting top-notch players to replace those leaving.
Some notable players who've pulled out include Gudakesh Motie, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Ottneil Baartman, and Spencer Johnson, mostly citing personal reasons. But Naqvi's not buying it, saying the PCB will take action according to the rules. The PSL 2026 is set to kick off on March 26, behind closed doors in Lahore and Karachi due to the West Asia crisis.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is keeping his word ! Players who ditch the PSL for the IPL can expect consequences, just like Corbin Bosch, who was banned for a year last time he pulled out. "We will take action according to the rules," Naqvi said.
The PSL is set to start on March 26, two days before the IPL kicks off across the border. The PSL will be played behind closed doors, however, Naqvi announced on Sunday, because of an oil crisis amid the West Asia conflict. The venues have also been trimmed from the original six to just two: Lahore and Karachi.
