Naman Dhir, Auqib Nabi Break Into India’s ODI Squad for West Indies Clashes
The BCCI selection committee has announced a 15-player India squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies starting September 27.
Punjab batting all-rounder Naman Dhir and Jammu & Kashmir seamer Auqib Nabi received their maiden national team call-ups.
Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja makes his return to the ODI squad, while senior batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retain their spots alongside captain Shubman Gill.
Asian Games Clash & Notable Omissions:
With several limited-overs regular players—including Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar—committed to the Asian Games in Japan, the selectors brought in fresh options for the ODI format.
Rishabh Pant has been omitted from the ODI setup, with Dhruv Jurel named as the second keeper behind KL Rahul. Pant will instead lead the Rest of India squad in the Irani Cup. Nitish Kumar Reddy was withdrawn from the Asian Games roster to join the ODI squad to bolster seam-bowling all-rounder options while Hardik Pandya continues recovery.
Series Schedule: Matches will take place in Thiruvananthapuram (Sept 27), Guwahati (Sept 30), and New Chandigarh (Oct 3) before a five-match T20I series.
