Mitchell Marsh backs Australia to bounce back in T20Is against Bangladesh

On Tuesday, Australia captain Mitchell Marsh stated that, despite fielding a new team, his team is confident of winning the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

The first game of the series will be played between Australia and the hosts on June 17 in Chattogram. The next two games are scheduled for June 19 and 21.

After Australia's 2-1 defeat in the ODI series, Marsh acknowledged that the tour had been challenging thus far. However, he stated that the team's hopes of recovering have been bolstered by the return of several experienced players.

Several senior T20 specialists joined the squad ahead of the series, including Tim David and all-rounder Aaron Hardie. Marsh himself did not feature in the ODI series as he was recovering from injury.

The skipper of Australia gave Tim David, a batter who was born in Singapore, a lot of praise, calling him one of the best middle-order batters in the shortest format.

"Absolutely. I think anytime you welcome, in my opinion, one of the best middle-order players in the world into your team - experienced and really confident in his ability - it's a huge boost. We welcome him back into our side and he's really valuable to us. So it's great to have him back," Marsh told reporters on Tuesday.

"There has been a significant personnel shift. "This series is really exciting for the guys," he stated. "We're going into this with high hopes of winning this series and playing some really good cricket," despite the fact that "it's been a tough tour, no doubt." "We've got some seasoned guys returning, without a doubt. We've also got fresh faces and some young players who will provide great energy, and we're looking forward to the challenge of playing against Bangladesh," he added.

Marsh also stated that the hosts cannot be taken lightly and that he was impressed by Bangladesh's emerging fast-bowling resources. Bangladesh's pacers played a key role in securing the country's maiden ODI series win over Australia in Dhaka.

"I think it's really exciting for Bangladesh cricket to have some quick bowlers. I think that's great for cricket because we've seen different conditions than in 2021. We look forward to the 2027 World Cup in South Africa.

"We look forward to the challenge of playing against them in this format now," Marsh stated. "It's a really exciting prospect for them. "It's new and exciting for me as well because I have never played or been here. There's a bit of grass coverage on the wicket.

It seems like a nice surface, and I'm sure it will make a great and fun game of cricket on it." They have a diverse team. They've been playing some really good cricket of late, and that will provide us with a great challenge - one that we'll be up for," he concluded.
