Mehidy Hasan discharged from hospital after head injury
Mehidy Hasan, Bangladesh's ODI captain, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after receiving a head injury during the second match of Bangladesh's series against Australia. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) made the announcement on Saturday.
BCB officials said they weren't sure if Mehidy would be available for Bangladesh's training session on June 13 in preparation for the third One-Day International against Australia on June 14.
A Nathan Ellis bouncer hit Miraz on the helmet, causing him to look uneasy for a while. However, the all-rounder resumed his innings after receiving treatment, hitting a six in his run-a-ball 22 to help Bangladesh surpass the 200-run mark in the second ODI.
By using the DLS strategy, Bangladesh won the second ODI by five wickets to secure a historic series victory.
In a video message released by the BCB on Friday, team operations manager Nafees Iqbal stated, "He (Mehidy) was under observation for almost 12 hours at Evercare Hospital as you know, he received a blow to the head from a bouncer and vomited, which was a bit concerning." Mehidy had been hit in the head by a bouncer.
"However, he continued to play, and even though he was feeling better, the BCB doctors and the physio decided to send him to Evercare immediately after the match. He had a scan, and the first scan's report was positive," he stated.
"He had a second scan today, and the results were good enough to get him out of the hospital. He stated, "I am not sure about practice tomorrow, but our doctors and physiotherapist will definitely communicate with him regarding availability."
In the meantime, a member of the national selection panel informed that the third one-day international team will remain unchanged.
The selector stated, "We expected Miraz to recover in time, since the scan reports have been good."
