Maddy Green’s unbeaten 141 powers NZ seal ODI series

On Saturday, April 4, New Zealand won the third one-day international against South Africa by a commanding 66 runs to win the series. After being reduced to 3 for 3, New Zealand was able to recover thanks to a century from Maddy Green. Tumi Sekhukhune started the slide by getting rid of Suzie Bates and Amelia Kerr, and Ayanda Hlubi got rid of Georgia Plimmer. South Africa were unable to capitalise on the early inroads though as New Zealand recovered through a massive 211-run partnership between Green and Brooke Halliday. Halliday fell just two short of her century as New Zealand posted 306/7, but Green remained unbeaten on 141. South Africa, on the other hand, got off to a good start, scoring 68 runs off their openers. That was followed by another 77-run alliance between captain Laura Wolvaardt and Annerie Dercksen that kept the Proteas in control. South Africa, on the other hand, fell from 145/1 to 154/4 after Wolvaardt's dismissal in the 26th over. Despite efforts to rebuild, the chase kept getting derailed with wickets falling at regular intervals. As South Africa were bowled out for 240, Rosemary Mair played an outstanding role with the bat, scoring 5-50.
