Litton Das summoned by BCB disciplinary committee for hearing

Bangladesh's T20I skipper Litton Kumar Das was called by the Bangladesh Cricket Board's disciplinary committee for a hearing on Sunday (July 19) after breaching the board's Code of Conduct, a BCB official confirmed. The batter is expected to depart for Singapore on July 20 for assessing his injury that forced him to be sidelined from the Zimbabwe tour while also making him unavailable for the ongoing Lanka Premier League. Litton decided to play in the LPL rather than the Zimbabwe T20Is. After missing the Test series, Litton went to Zimbabwe for the ODIs but returned home shortly after not recovering fully from the calf injury that he picked up during the ODIs at home against Australia earlier in the year. It ruled him of the T20I series against the Aussies. It is understood that Litton went to China after returning from Zimbabwe without contacting the BCB. This did not sit well with the high-ranking members of the current board because they were unsure of his injury updates. The BCB thought that because he was a centrally contracted cricketer, leaving without informing the board would violate the BCB's Code of Conduct, so they summoned him to a disciplinary committee hearing. "The board did not like him (Litton) going to China. The board called him and asked him why and with whose permission he went to China," a BCB source told on Sunday when asked about the disciplinary committee's hearing of the current T20I skipper. The hearing took place on Sunday, according to BCB director Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir, who added that the board "will not tolerate indiscipline from any player." "He gave his statement during the hearing. Now we have to talk with the medical committee and cross-check the whole matter. But, with what we have heard, we think he is saying the truth," said Alamgir. "He has been playing for a long time. He actually doesn't have that much of a disciplinary issue (record) in his career. He doesn't have a track record as such. We have that in mind," he said. "I this he is little bit frustrated as he couldn't play the Sri Lankan T20 League (Lanka Premier League)," he said. "All that was missing was communication. This is not something that is intentional or some sort of a violation, but even after there is a communication gap, he still has breached the contract," he said. "We have to do something about it, even if it is a small thing, so that he is aware in the future. Even the board president wants this message to go to the players, so that they follow the rules and regulations properly," he said. "You can say that the board will not allow any players to be careless. Doesn't matter how big of a player he is," he said. "I have told Litton not to take this personally. Through this we want to give a clear message to the players regarding our stance on disciplinary issues," he said adding that the disciplinary committee will make a final call regarding his punishment based on the BCB's Code of Conduct guidelines.
