KKR sign Blessing Muzarabani for IPL 2026
Kolkata Knight Riders have roped in Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani for IPL 2026. Muzarabani has reportedly given up his PSL contract to take up the opportunity in the IPL. At the PSL auction last month, the Zimbabwean failed to sell, but Islamabad United immediately signed him as a replacement for West Indies' Shamar Joseph.
After concluding a commendable World Cup campaign in the subcontinent, where his team reached the Super Eights, Muzarabani will return to India. In the six games he played in India and Sri Lanka, Muzarabani picked up 13 wickets - only Jasprit Bumrah and Varun CV picked more (14 wickets each in 8 and 9 matches respectively) in the tournament.
Since making his debut for Zimbabwe in 2017, the 6' 8" fast bowler has bowled in every format. In 89 T20Is, Muzarabani has 106 wickets and an economy rate of 7.24. Muzarabani has used his fast bowling abilities in T20 competitions all over the world. He has played in the CPL, ILT20, PSL, and even the Vitality Blast in England.
This marks Muzarabani's second stint with an IPL team. Toward the end of the IPL 2025 season, he served as Royal Challengers Bengaluru's temporary replacement.
On March 17, Muzarabani is expected to arrive in Kolkata and join the team. After acquiring Mustafizur Rahman for INR 9.20 crore earlier this year, KKR was forced to terminate his contract. Mathesha Pathirana, KKR's other big-money fast bowler, is still recovering from an injury he sustained in the middle of the T20 World Cup that just finished.
KKR begin their IPL 2026 campaign on March 29 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium.
