Khaled Ahmed Targets Afghanistan Test Success Following Productive County Stint With Kent

Player & Series: Khaled Ahmed (Bangladesh Fast Bowler) — Bangladesh vs. Afghanistan One-Off Test (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

Test Squad Recall: Bangladesh pace bowler Khaled Ahmed has been named in the Test squad for the upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan scheduled for October 9–13, 2026, in Abu Dhabi. Successful County Stint: Khaled joins the squad fresh off a strong spell in the English County Championship with Kent, where he took 16 wickets across three matches after returning from a prolonged competitive break.

Adapting to Conditions: After adjusting to cold weather in England during September, Khaled noted he is now focusing on quickly adapting to the hot weather conditions in Dubai and Abu Dhabi through intense running and bowling sessions. Professional Mindset: Refusing to offer excuses regarding shifting climates, the paceman emphasized maintaining a professional mindset focused purely on rhythm and execution.

Praise for Domestic Structure: He expressed gratitude toward the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for introducing "baggy caps" in domestic first-class cricket to elevate red-ball standards and match the atmosphere of Test cricket.

“Here, if a player gets injured or a player goes out of form, then from here, that player from the first eleven can go to the second eleven and play, regain his form and come back to the first eleven. I mean, I would like to thank this board a lot for creating these things, because now our cricket is trying to go much higher. InshaAllah, we will take Test cricket to a much higher level in our country,” he concluded.
