Kamindu Mendis and Kusal Mendis Power Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka secured a comfortable win, thanks to a brilliant all-round performance. Brothers Kamindu Mendis and Kusal Mendis led the charge, with Kamindu scoring 50 and taking 2 wickets, while Kusal contributed 31 and a wicket. The spinners were instrumental, with Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana also chipping in with crucial wickets. Sri Lanka's bowlers restricted their opponents, setting up a convincing victory. What a turnaround! Kamindu Mendis's aggressive 44 off 19 balls and Kusal Mendis's unbeaten 56 off 43 propelled Sri Lanka forward. Their 67-run partnership off 30 balls shifted the momentum. Ireland's chase was derailed by Wanindu Hasaranga's 3/25, despite a solid start. Maheesh Theekshana's 3 wickets also contributed to Ireland's 143 all out in 19.5 overs. Sri Lanka's spinners stole the show. Kamil Mishara's luck ran out quickly. He was dropped twice in the third over but failed to capitalize on it. He got caught in the next over, ending his innings. Meanwhile, Kusal Mendis got off to a great start, hitting 3 fours in his first 8 balls and taking Sri Lanka to 50/1 in the powerplay. Kamindu Mendis turned the game around! He broke the boundary drought in the 16th over, and Ireland's fielding errors gave him and Kusal Mendis the opportunity to capitalize. The 17th over was a killer, with Kusal dropped twice and Kamindu once - Kamindu's dropped catch went for six, followed by two fours, making it a 21-run over. Wanindu Hasaranga's determination paid off despite his hamstring injury. After bowling just two balls, he was struggling but decided to continue. Although his run-up and deliveries were affected, he still managed to take crucial wickets, including Ross Adair's with a castled delivery on his last ball of the over. Ireland's spin strategy paid off big time! Deploying spin from both ends post-powerplay really slowed Sri Lanka's momentum. They went 56 balls without a boundary, and crucial wickets fell - Pathum Nissanka and Pavan Rathnayake were dismissed, leaving Sri Lanka 68/3 in the 11th over. Ireland's spinners were on fire, bowling 13 overs, their highest in a T20I. Sri Lanka 163 for 6 (Kusal 56*, Kamindu 44, Dockrell 2-17, McCarthy 2-40) beat Ireland 143 (Tector 40, Ross Adair 34, Theekshana 3-23, Hasaranga 3-25) by 20 runs
