Kadowaki-Fleming to captain Japan in landmark T20I clash with India

The Japan team for the historic one-off T20I against India, which will be played on September 22 in Sano, has been announced.

Headlined by their regular captain Kendel Kadowaki-Fleming, their top run-getter in T20Is, the squad mirrors the one picked for the Asian Games 2026, set to be hosted by Japan in the city of Aichi-Nagoya.

Tsuyoshi Takada, Jake Kusuda-Nairn, and Alester Kadowaki-Fleming are three additional members of the A squads that make up the 15-member group. The selection panel for the 2026 season made the list of national cricketers for the 2026 season in June. Twelve of the players in this group are national cricketers.

The contest, which is going to be referred to as the Suzuki Cup, will take place at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture. It will serve as a prelude to cricket at the Asian Games, which will be held from September 24 to October 3. Shreyas Iyer is in charge of India's full-strength squad for the Asian Games, where they are the current T20 World Cup champions.

It understands that the Indian team will leave for Sano on September 19, and will have a practice session the following day.
