John Mooney Named Delhi Capitals' New Fielding Coach for IPL 2026

John Mooney has been appointed as the new fielding coach of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2026, becoming the first Irish coach to join an IPL franchise's coaching staff. He'll work alongside head coach Hemang Badani, bowling coach Munaf Patel, assistant coach Ian Bell, and director of cricket Venugopal Rao. Mooney, a former Ireland all-rounder, has extensive coaching experience, having served as Afghanistan's fielding coach and worked with the West Indies men's team. He represented Ireland in 64 ODIs and 27 T20Is between 2006 and 2015. After retiring from international cricket in 2015, Mooney completed Level 1, 2 and 3 coaching certifications from the England and Wales Cricket Board.
