In order to boost their pace-bowling options, Glamorgan have signed Fazalhaq Farooqi of Afghanistan to play in the T20 Blast. Farooqi has played English cricket for Nottinghamshire and Manchester Originals, and he took the most wickets at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Mark Wallace, Glamorgan's director of cricket, stated, "Fazalhaq comes with a growing reputation as one of the leading bowlers in T20 cricket." "At the end of the innings, he will provide us with some excellent death-bowling skills and a high-quality threat to take wickets with the new ball. We are eager to welcome our first international Afghan player to the Club. Glamorgan have not reached the knockout stages of the Blast since 2017 but have brought in some proven T20 talent over the winter, with Sean Dickson joining from Somerset and Australian seamer Nathan McAndrew also set to arrive as an overseas player. The club announced earlier this week that New South Wales and Australia A seamer Ryan Hadley will play the first six rounds of County Championship fixtures for them, as they look to fill the gap left by James Harris' retirement. According to Wallace, "We've been tracking Ryan's progress on the Australian domestic circuit and believe his style of bowling will add an additional skillset to our attack at the start of the season." "We're looking forward to welcoming him to Sophia Gardens in the coming days" after a successful domestic season in Australia that earned him a spot in the Australia A Team. Glamorgan will be playing in Division One of the Championship for the first time since 2005 this summer, after a late surge to promotion last year.
