David Hussey steps down as Victoria's head of men's cricket

Former Australia limited-overs batter David Hussey has stood down as Victoria's head of men's cricket to take on a role with a new global venture Cricket Victoria (CV) is launching in the coming weeks. After leaving his position as head coach with Melbourne Stars in the BBL, Hussey was hired in August 2022 to oversee the men's program, participate in selection, and represent Victoria in 87 Sheffield Shield matches, including winning three Shield titles. Victoria made two Shield finals, in 2022-23 and 2025-26, and a One-Cup Final, in 2024-25, during Hussey's tenure - although they have missed out on silverware - and he has overseen a contract list build that has focused heavily on the development of home grown Victorian players. Graham Manou, CV's general manager of cricket performance, acknowledged Hussey's contribution to the state program. Manou stated, "David's influence is immeasurable on the organization and the broader Victorian cricket community." "David has contributed to strengthening the foundations of our male high-performance program while leaving a lasting legacy across Victorian cricket through his passion for the game, commitment to excellence, and investment in people." Following Victoria's third Shield final appearance in five seasons, the team re-signed coach Chris Rogers for two more seasons.
