Cricket Regulator charges Brydon Carse over Derby incident
The Cricket Regulator has brought charges against England's Brydon Carse, a fast bowler, for an incident that occurred on August 23 in Derby. The independent Cricket Discipline Panel will decide the case.
In a statement released on Friday, the Cricket Regulator stated, "Following a Cricket Regulator investigation, Brydon Carse has been charged with breaching Regulation 3.2 of the ECB Professional Conduct Regulations, in relation to events in Derby in the early hours of the morning on August 23 2026." "For adjudication, the matter will now be referred to the independent Cricket Discipline Panel. No additional remarks will be made as the procedure continues."
"No participant may conduct themselves in a manner, do any act or make any omission at any time which is improper or which may be prejudicial to the interests of cricket or which may bring the ECB, the game of cricket or any cricketer or group of cricketers into disrepute," reads Regulation 3.2. "No participant may conduct themselves in a manner, do any act or make any omission at any time."
After Durham's victory over Derbyshire in the County Championship, Carse and his teammates went to Derby. He was captured in handcuffs outside a nightclub in a social media video. He was taken into custody on suspicion of being drunk and disruptive, but he was later released. Another assault allegation was investigated by Derbyshire Police, but the investigation was closed last month without any action being taken.
The ECB said it would not say anything more. "The Cricket Regulator's decision to charge Brydon Carse is known to us. In a statement, an ECB spokesperson stated, "Brydon now has the opportunity to respond through the established process."
"We would not be appropriate to comment further as we do not wish to prejudge the outcome."
Carse was not selected to play for England in the second Test against Pakistan at Lord's, and he has not played since. He was also not selected for the T20 and ODI matches against Sri Lanka. He was dropped from the squad on Thursday for the ODI tri-series in Pakistan this month.
