Can LSG's Bowling Attack Turn the Tide Against RCB's Batting Firepower ?

RCB's batting has been on fire, scoring 200+ in all four innings, while LSG's top score is 182. However, LSG's bowling attack might just be the equalizer they need. Given LSG's struggles in these areas, their bowling strength could be the key to containing RCB's batsmen. RCB rank eighth in terms of economy rate (10.62) this season, while LSG's bowling unit is right on top with an economy of 8.5. Notably, they are yet to concede 200 in a season where such totals have become extremely commonplace. LSG stand between RCB and a record-equalling run of five successive 200-plus scores in the IPL. The history between RCB and LSG is intense! The 2023 match where Harshal Patel missed the run-out and LSG snatched the win is still talked about. And let's not forget the Kohli-Gambhir spat in Lucknow - that was. Expect some more drama in this one. In 2024, Mayank Yadav burst onto the big stage, rattling RCB's Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell with thunderbolts upwards of 150kph. And later that season, Jitesh Sharma upstaged Rishabh Pant as RCB chased down 228 to secure their place in the top two. RCB are currently third in the points table, while LSG are down at seventh. But only two points separate the teams, even though they appear to be in extremely contrasting form. Virat Kohli's ankle strain is looking like a non-issue, with him back in the nets and doing running tests ahead of tonight's match against LSG. He's likely to play, given his impressive form this season with 179 runs at an average of 59.66 and a strike rate of 162.72. Fast bowler Rasikh Dar has recovered from cramps and is set to play, but there's uncertainty around Josh Hazlewood's fitness. LSG's pace duo, Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav, are looking to make an impact against RCB tonight. Mohsin Khan, who played just one match this season, is undergoing a fitness assessment, expected to be routine, while Mayank Yadav is ready to go after building up his bowling workload. If Mayank plays, he could replace Avesh Khan, who's had an economy of 10.4 in four matches. Rajat Patidar's explosive form has been RCB's saving grace, striking at 214.28 with 195 runs. His ability to dominate both spin and pace has made him a nightmare to bowl to. With 18 sixes, he's joint highest alongside Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. If he keeps this up, bigger opportunities might be on the horizon. Bowling at full tilt this season, Mohammed Shami has proved a challenge with the new ball when batters are scoring faster than ever before in the powerplay. While the wickets haven't come - he only has three in the powerplay - he has exerted control. His economy rate in that phase is only 6.1 and Tom Moody, LSG's global director of cricket, couldn't be happier with where he's at. The match will be played on the surface on which CSK fell 43 short of RCB's 250. Expect another belter. Dew wasn't a factor in the first two games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, but there was a fair bit on match eve. The ground staff are aiming to limit its impact on the game by using the anti-dew spray.
