Bishop breaks through, Mckenzie recalled for Pakistan Tests

West Indies have named their Test squad for the upcoming series vs Pakistan, with pacer Bishop getting a first call-up and Mckenzie making a return. Bishop earns his first West Indies Test selection. A chance for the bowler to break into the side. Mckenzie returns to the Test squad after time out, adding experience to the lineup. The squad is set for the Tests against Pakistan a key series for West Indies in the current WTC cycle. A mix of new blood and a recall. Bishop gets his shot, while Mckenzie’s return gives West Indies more depth for the Pakistan Tests. Bishop is a left-arm orthodox spinner with 119 wickets in 25 first-class games at an average of 23.90. He is the highest wicket-taker in the last three West Indies Championship seasons, taking 91 scalps. McKenzie, the left-handed batter from Jamaica, replaces John Campbell, who was ruled out of the Test series due to a left hamstring strain that he sustained during the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand. His return comes on the back of a strong performance in the latest season of West Indies Championship, where he scored 323 runs in six innings at an average of 64.60. Anderson Phillip, the right-arm pacer, lost his place after playing the second Test against Sri Lanka, West Indies' previous Test assignment. He took 1 for 72 and 1 for 27 and scored 0. The rest of the squad remains the same with Jomel Warrican retaining his vice-captaincy. The 2-Test series between West Indies and Pakistan will be played July 25 to August 6 at two venues in Trinidad. Both teams are struggling in the World Test Championship standings: West Indies: 1 win from 10 Tests Pakistan: 1 win from 4 Tests. Both are currently at the bottom of the table. With both sides near the bottom, the series is a big chance to pick up WTC points and some momentum.
