Bangladesh opens door to broadcast IPL
The newly appointed minister of information and broadcasting, Zahir Uddin Swapan, stated that Bangladesh can televise the upcoming Indian Premier League. Cricbuzz had previously been informed by Aminul Haque, the state minister for youth and sports, that they would discuss the IPL broadcast with the relevant authorities following its prohibition by the previous interim government.
"We were not approached to broadcast the IPL. We do not want to combine sports and politics. According to Deutsche Welle, Swapan was quoted as saying, "We will look at it from a commercial perspective, and if any channel applies to telecast the IPL, we will consider it positively." Swapan responded that Star Sports could broadcast the IPL when asked if it could. We won't prevent anyone from broadcasting it. If Star Sports want to telecast it, they can.
"We will take it positively if any of our channels want to broadcast it, but we will not force anything," he stated. Rezaul Karim Lablu, the office secretary for the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh, stated that because the government has not issued any instructions regarding this matter, they will not prevent Star Sports from televising the IPL. Lablu stated,
"They can do it if Star Sports telecast the IPL in Bangladesh, because no one has asked us to stop it." "The interim government's directives have no bearing on anything. "Because the previous government's directives are no longer in place, we will do so if this government asks us to stop it," he added. In the past, the government led by Professor Yunus had made it illegal for the IPL to be broadcast in Bangladesh.
