Back-to-back tons from Taylor wrap up 3-0 win for West Indies
West Indies completed a 3-0 series sweep, with Taylor scoring his second consecutive century to lead the team to victory in the final match.
Taylor on fire
Taylor made back-to-back tons. His second straight hundred was the standout performance and helped West Indies close out the series in style. The win sealed a 3-0 series victory for West Indies, showing dominant form across all three matches. With Taylor leading with the bat, West Indies looked in control throughout and finished the series without dropping a game.
Earlier, Taylor struck her ninth ODI hundred to rescue West Indies from 48 for 4. They had lost Hayley Matthews, Realeanna Grimmond, Shemaine Campbelle and Jannillea Glasgow inside the first 13 overs but Taylor's 105 revived them. She rebuilt first with Deandra Dottin and then Jahzara Claxton before accelerating at the death. After adding 34 with Dottin, she shared a 73-run stand off 78 balls with Claxton and then put on 50 runs off 49 for the seventh wicket with Aaliyah Alleyne.
Taylor’s century: Started the 49th over on 90. Hit Georgina Dempsey for back-to-back fours, then ran 2 to reach her hundred. She was run out off the final ball. Support: Alleyne added a quick 33, and 27 runs came in wides to push West Indies past 250.How Ireland’s chase fell apart.
Ireland never got going despite a solid second-wicket stand. Lewis 50 off 59 and Hunter 30 put on 71 off 81 balls for the 2nd wicket. Fletcher struck in the 18th over and removed both to break the partnership. Matthews then got Orla Prendergast, and Rebecca Stokell was run out.
Ireland kept losing wickets and fell further behind the rate. Taylor’s back-to-back hundreds anchored West Indies past 250, and early wickets from Fletcher plus strikes from Matthews shut down Ireland’s chase to complete the 3-0 sweep.
Leah Paul tried to rebuild but West Indies' bowlers controlled the game throughout. When Paul fell for 32 in the 36th over to Fletcher, Ireland were 158 for 6 and were all but out of the contest. Eventually, they were bowled out in the 44th over, losing their last four wickets for 35 runs.
