Babette de Leede to lead Netherlands in their maiden Women's T20 World Cup

For the forthcoming Women's T20 World Cup in England in June and July, the Netherlands have named their inaugural squad. After her uncle Tim de Leede and cousin Bas de Leede led and represented the men's team at World Cups, Babette de Leede will carry on her family's legacy in the sport. Babette de Leede, the captain, stated, "We are super excited for our first ever appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup." "It will be a great opportunity to compete with the world's best teams and demonstrate the talent in the Netherlands on the big stage. We hope to inspire young Dutch girls and make the Dutch cricket community proud. "We expect a large orange crowd and a lot of support because the T20 World Cup is played close to where we live, in England. It will be an unforgettable experience not only for our team but also for our families, friends, and anyone else who cares about Dutch women's cricket. After securing crucial victories in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers held in Nepal in January and February of this year, the Netherlands are now competing in the World Cup. The Netherlands will use the same group to fine-tune their preparation for the major tournament by playing a T20I triseries in Scotland with Bangladesh as well. The Netherlands are in the same group as India, Australia, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Pakistan at the World Cup. On June 14, Babette's team will face Bangladesh to begin their World Cup campaign in Edgbaston. The remaining games in the group stage are in Bristol (South Africa and Pakistan), Leeds (India), and Southampton (Australia). Netherlands squad: Babette de Leede (c), Caroline de Lange, Frederique Overdijk, Hannah Landheer, Heather Siegers, Iris Zwilling, Isabel van der Woning, Lara Leemhuis, Myrthe van den Raad, Phebe Molkenboer, Robine Rijke, Rosalie Lawrence, Sanya Khurana, Silver Siegers, Sterre Kalis
