Australia and New Zealand to Play for Rose Bowl Across All White-Ball Formats

The Historical Shift: The prestigious Rose Bowl trophy—contested between the Australia and New Zealand women's teams since 1985—has officially been expanded to encompass all white-ball bilateral series (both ODIs and T20Is).

Relevance and Frequency: Traditionally restricted to Women's One Day Internationals, the inclusion of T20Is ensures the trophy remains frequently up for grabs, counteracting gaps in the 50-over calendar caused by broader international scheduling structures.

How Winners are Decided:

For multi-format series containing both ODIs and T20Is, the winner will be determined by the most wins overall across the entire schedule. For standalone series, the trophy is contested directly within that format. | In the event of a tied series, the current holder retains the trophy.

Looking Ahead: The historic transition kicks off immediately with a standalone T20I series at North Sydney Oval, keeping the trans-Tasman rivalry fierce as both teams build toward future global tournament cycles.

Australia have held the Rose Bowl continuously since wresting it back from New Zealand in 2000. Since that 3-0 win, Australia have won 18 times with one series - in 2008-09 - shared 2-2. Overall, Australia have won 26 of the 31 ODI series played for the Rose Bowl, with New Zealand winning three times and three series drawn.

North Sydney will host all three T20Is of the upcoming Rose Bowl series, on October 18, 20 and 22.
