Australia's Perry, Garth Out of ODI Series vs India Due to Quad Strains

Australian all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth have been ruled out of the ODI series against India due to quad strains. Australia's captain, Alyssa Healy, confirmed that both players sustained injuries during the third T20I match. India won the toss and opted to bat first in the first ODI at Gabba, Brisbane.

Australia's ODI squad has seen some changes, with Georgia Voll recalled to bat at No.3 after her impressive 88 in the second T20I. Legspinner Alana King is also back in the team, along with Tahlia McGrath, who missed the T20 leg. Unfortunately, Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth suffered injuries in the third T20I and are out, with Megan Schutt and Lucy Hamilton added to the squad.

India's batting lineup is getting a boost with Pratika Rawal's return after knee and ankle injuries sidelined her from the World Cup. She was initially selected only for the Test squad but has now been added to the ODI squad for the series against Australia. Rawal, who has been impressive in her short ODI career with 1,110 runs from 24 matches, is expected to make a significant impact.

India have never won an ODI series against Australia, but enter with confidence and return to the format for the first time since memorably lifting the World Cup title.

Australia, however, will be buoyed by their amazing record at the Allan Border Field having won all 20 completed ODIs at the ground, including twice against India in December 2024.

India won the toss and opted to bat first in the first ODI, and Rawal's experience will be valuable as they take on Australia in Brisbane.

Healy is a welcome addition for an Australia team trailing 4-2 on points in the multi-format series after a 2-1 defeat in the T20 leg. She has not played international cricket since Australia's shock World Cup semi-final defeat to India in October.
