Afghanistan-Sri Lanka Series in UAE Postponed Due to Ongoing Conflict

The Afghanistan-Sri Lanka white-ball series, scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from March 13 to 25, has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing West Asia conflict. The series, which includes three T20Is and three ODIs, was set to be Afghanistan's first assignment under new captain Ibrahim Zadran. The decision to postpone was made due to safety concerns and travel disruptions caused by the conflict. The series comprising six white-ball matches was scheduled to start on March 13 starting with the three T20Is. The T20I leg was scheduled in Sharjah - on March 13, 15 and 17 - while the three ODIs were scheduled in Dubai on March 20, 22 and 25. Afghanistan's white-ball series against Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from March 13 to 25, has been postponed indefinitely due to the ongoing West Asia conflict. This series was set to be Afghanistan's first under Ibrahim Zadran's leadership, who replaced Rashid Khan as captain after the team's group-stage exit in the T20 World Cup. The decision to postpone the series was made due to safety concerns and travel disruptions caused by the conflict. Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed the postponement, citing flight situation and ongoing fighting in the region as reasons. This is not the first cricket event to be affected by the conflict, as six matches of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 in Nepal involving Oman, UAE, and the hosts were also postponed last week. Sri Lanka Cricket has confirmed the postponement, citing flight situation and ongoing fighting in the region as reasons. The Afghanistan Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket are exploring alternative options, but rescheduling the series is proving to be a challenge due to logistical issues and tight scheduling.
