Taskin, Mustafizur, Shoriful set to return from injuries

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed on Saturday (June 21) that the pace trio of Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Mustafizur Rahman will be available following two intra-squad matches at Chattogram. Bangladesh's white-ball probables for the upcoming Sri Lanka white-ball tour began with their preparation at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday that will host the two intra-squad matches, scheduled respectively on June 23 and 25. The trio, who have been out of competitive cricket due to their respective injuries were seen bowling at full pace but the BCB medical department official confirm following the practice session that they are yet to get clearance for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka as they will make a final call after the two intra-squad practice games. "We can only say about their availability for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka following the two practice games but at the moment they did not have any complaint after bowling with full intensity," he added. Fast bowler Mustafizur was ruled out from the T20I series in Pakistan because of a thumb injury that he suffered during IPL 2025 while Taskin was suffering from an ankle injury. Meanwhile, Shoriful was ruled out of the third and final T20I against Pakistan due to a muscle injury. An MRI scan and subsequent medical examinations have revealed that his right rectus femoris muscle has sustained a Grade 1 strain. The three-match One-Day International (ODI) series between the two teams will follow the two-match Test series on July 2, 5, and 8. The first two ODIs are set to take place in Colombo, with the final match to be held in Pallekele. The tour will conclude with a three-match T20I series, scheduled for July 10, 13, and 16 respectively in Pallekele, Dambulla, and Colombo.
