SRH don't have enough 'complete performances' this season, feels Unadkat

Sunrisers Hyderabad find themselves teetering on the edge of IPL 2025 elimination, now relying on a perfect finish to their league campaign and a series of favorable outcomes elsewhere to sneak into the playoffs. After a standout run to the final last season, SRH have struggled to replicate their aggressive, high-octane performances, with inconsistency in both batting and bowling proving to be their downfall. Their latest setback came against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, where the same pattern repeated. In the post-match press conference, pacer Jaydev Unadkat candidly acknowledged the lack of all-round showings from the squad. “We’ve had a few solid outings, like in Chennai, but too often, things haven’t clicked together,” he said. “If we bowl well, our fielding slips up; when the fielding is sharp, the bowling lacks bite. Even today, the batting started promisingly but fizzled out.” Unadkat highlighted the importance of synergy across all departments, especially against top-tier teams like Gujarat. “To win against strong sides, you need to fire in all three areas. We just didn’t bring it all together today, especially in the field—that cost us.” Captain Pat Cummins shared a similar view, admitting shortcomings in the bowling during the powerplay. “We probably conceded 20-30 more than we should’ve. A couple of missed chances—myself included—made chasing 200 much harder,” Cummins admitted. The bowling unit, in particular, has been a persistent issue. Unadkat stressed the need for consistency across the attack. “You need three or four bowlers delivering in sync every match. This season, it’s been fragmented—some step up while others falter. That imbalance adds pressure and disrupts strategy,” he explained. He didn’t shy away from accountability either. “It’s not about preparation or plans. It’s about translating all of that onto the field—and that’s where we’ve been lacking.”
