Tim Boon, the former Leicestershire and England Under-19 head coach, has joined Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) as a coach and high-performance consultant on a one-month contract effective from May 8, 2025. Boon, who also served as England's team analyst during their 2005 Ashes victory, will focus on enhancing the batting skills of the Sri Lanka Women's senior and A-team squads, the men's emerging team, and the Under-17s. His program includes technical and tactical sessions aimed at improving players' overall batting approach and individual performance. This appointment aligns with SLC's strategy of engaging overseas experts on short-term contracts to bolster specific areas of player development. Earlier in May, R Sridhar, India's former fielding coach, conducted a comprehensive 10-day fielding program for both top men's and women's cricketers in Sri Lanka. In previous years, SLC has enlisted the expertise of professionals like Zubin Bharucha, Wasim Akram, and Jonty Rhodes to run brief batting, bowling, and fielding programs, respectively. These initiatives are part of SLC's broader effort to enhance the technical capabilities of its players through targeted, high-impact coaching interventions.
